Family Photos

They shouldn't be stuffy. They should be full of life, laughter, and color; simple moments captured with with incredible lighting. I believe photography sessions should be fun, full of love and energy, and preferably at sunrise or sunset. Whether are visiting the coast in Seabrook, WA where I often work or in the big city of Seattle, I love the Pacific Northwest and exploring the beauty of its many backdrops. Take a look around and see if Juniper Tree is a good fit for your family and then shoot me a message!

“Can’t say enough great things about Chelsea. Whether it’s simple family photos, shots of four generations, or groups of 74, she always does an awesome job! Somehow gets everyone to look natural and the photos turn out great.”

- Judy, returning client

What to expect

Sessions take between 1 and 1.5 hours depending on the photo yield. If you have small children, I like to take time to let them play and be themselves. It’s a great way to get fun photos and simultaneously avoid crying meltdowns. Sessions are as relaxed as possible and nearly always outdoors. While I pose and try to snap a couple of classic images, most of my photography has a natural, “unposed” look to it, with plenty of movement and laughter. Real life isn’t stiff and posed and I like my photos to have a touch of the wild in them.

I encourage my clients to stay away from outfits that match too much and instead to try and blend florals, solids, and plaids with varying textures and fun accessories. I’m more than happy to help my clients choose their wardrobe over FaceTime or messaging and maximize the options they have. Need some visual inspiration? Check out my Pinterest Page for ideas!

Planning your session

I shoot primarily during the last light of the day or first light in the morning. I understand this can be difficult with little children, but the closer we can get to these hours the better the photos will be. I don’t shoot in the rain, but I’m happy to be flexible with scheduling if the weather isn’t in our favor. Please take this into serious consideration during the scheduling process. I do not shoot during winter months, so your session will need to be planned in the May-October window.
